Pillars of the Community

Naperville’s colorful history is chronicled in this dynamic art-deco mural on the original site of Naperville’s historic Pre-Emption House – the first hotel west of Chicago. Three adjoining panels depict a cast of significant figures, businesses, and scenes spanning the 20th Century. Among them are images, portraits, and scenes of surveyors mapping the land near the local quarry, a Civil War cannon signifying Naperville’s contributions to the war, early telephone operators, and many more whose community involvement furthered Naperville's prospering community.
